Hologram is a high-tech optical laser recording of visually a 3D image bearing the multi layer impressions of the customized art work with various security features – demonstrating multiple images reconstructed as one image having complete parallax & depth-of-field (due to high refraction of light) floating in space behind and/ or front of the 2D recording medium. Different cross sections of the image can be seen along different directions when viewed at correct angle of light. Its dramatic effects look “real” because of vibrant colours, motion and images at different depths.
Holograms are actually 3D images formed using a laser and light sensitive material, which is chemically similar to a photographic emulsion. Basically it records a pattern of infinitesimal lines called interference pattern due to the interaction of two beams of laser light, after processing, the hologram is illuminated at the same angle as one of the beams (the reference beam) used during the original exposure. The hologram re-creates the second beam to form a virtual 3D images.
- Type 1-2D,3D Single Channel 2 or 3 Layers : This type of Hologram has 2 or 3 layers and no switching effects i.e. ‘channels’.
- Type 2-2D 3D Multi Channel between Layers,2Layers: This type of Hologram has 2 layers, with switching effect between the layers i.e. when the angle of viewing is changed, the ‘foreground’ artwork disappears so that only the ‘background’ artwork is visible.
-· Type 3- 2D 3D Multi Channel in the Foreground: This type of Hologram has 2 or 3 layers, with switching effect in the ‘foreground’ i.e. when the angle of viewing is changed , the ‘foreground’ artwork changes to show a different artwork in the ‘foreground’. A maximum of 4 different artworks can be incorporated in the ‘foreground’. This allows the customer more flexibility in terms of the design of the Hologram.
- Type 4 Dot-matrix: Here a ‘Dot-matrix effect is incorporated in the Hologram. The ‘Dot-matrix effect can have kinetic movement and can be visible from more angles. This effect also has more brightness as compared to a conventional Hologram. However, this effect can only be incorporated in the ‘foreground’. The ‘Dot-matrix effect can be combined with any type of Hologram as detailed above.
In all the above types of Holograms, lines artworks are used to make the Master. The line artworks in the different layers provide in the 3D effect.
- Type 5 – True 3D: In this type of Hologram, a scaled down model is used to make the Master. The end result is that the customer can actually see a 3D object in the Hologram complete with the shadows and contours. Line artworks can also be incorporated in this Hologram to make a 3D 2D Hologram.
